Photo Gallery -- Churches and Basilicas
In most photo arrays you will find a positional floor plan of the church. The positional information in each photo file name (ie: SP_p001_01) equates to a Floorplan categorization of each church and a specific position in the church. So, using the example above, this would mean St. Peters - Position 1 - Shot 1. These positional directions are derived from the amazing book "The Pilgrim's Guide to Rome's Principal Churches", authored by Father Joseph Tylenda, S.J. and published through Angelus Press. We could not have accomplished this photo gallery without the help of both Father Tylenda and Angelus Press. In addition, on many of the photo arrays you will find drawings of the church by artists of the 16th through 18th century, such as Piranesi and Vasi.
